Bas van Fraassen on Embedding - Dictionary of Arguments
I 43 Definition embedding/Fraassen: a structure can be embedded in another one if the first one is isomorphic in relation to a part (substructure) of the second. Definition isomorphism/Fraassen: isomorphism is a total identity of the structure and a boundary case of the embedding: if two structures are isomorphic, each can be embedded in the other. - The ability to embed serves the evaluation of theories (semantically). >Theories, >Evaluation._____________Explanation of symbols: Roman numerals indicate the source, arabic numerals indicate the page number. The corresponding books are indicated on the right hand side. ((s)…): Comment by the sender of the contribution.
